LAST EMAIL

Todos,
This will be the last email I send home. Wierd. I am excited to see you all on friday although I don't want to leave. I'm am proud of the work I've done and would have like to do even more. Hector is good and is ready for his baptism of Saturday. Hno. Carrillo, who's son just came back from Colombia Barranquilla, will baptize him. He is excited but had to work on saturday so he's getting baptized this
Saturday. I won´t be there but the important thing is that he gets baptized.
La familia Urrutia loves the church and they are now ready to have their interview to get baptized on Christmas. I got my goal of finding a family to get baptized. I love them I'll show you pics on Friday. The members love them and are helping them a bunch.
La familia Almonacid will get baptized but need to be worked with a bit. The mom really likes her catholic church and thinks she's not allowed to change. The rest of the family is ready. They are a family of 5.
Marcela is the branch president's daughters friend and has gone to church 4 times now and only needs to turn 18 to get baptized cause her parents won´t let her.
Solache is 11 and she is the Branch presidents niece and yesterday we got permission from her Mom for her to get baptized. Sadly the mom no quiere nada.
The missionaries that get to our old sector are going to be happy cause there is plenty to do.
This week we went to the district president's house and helped him remodel his chicken (kitchen) that was fun.
Tomorrow is my last day of work because I have to be in the mission home early of wednesday to have our last interview and say good bye. That night I will take a bus to Santiago and Thursday I will go to the temple with the other Elders. That night I will get on the plane and I will see you on Friday.
I love you tons,

GREAT WEEK

Elder Joe Day,
So your going on a mission this week. The mission is the best. I will have more time to write in 3 weeks so I will write you there. When you get into the MTC you need to ask your Branch president and Zone leaders if I can go see you the 16th of Dec. The day I get home. Tell them I will still be a missionary when I get there and they will let us talk for 45 min.

Angie/ Adam,
BBBBBBBBAAAAAAKKKANNN!!!!!!!!!!
I totally called it. I told my comp. That she was going to be born on Mom's birthday. I like the name choice. Concrats I´m excited to meet her.

Todos,
We had an excellent week. Nine of our investigators who are getting ready to be baptized went to church. The familia Almonacid Garcia went, and we had a very spiritual lesson with la familia Urrutia this week and they accepted a baptismal date for the 17th of Dec. Hector will have his baptimal interview this week and I am just stoked to be in la obra misional. I don´t want to come back. I want to stay and see the 11 baptisms we have scheduled. But it´s too late now cause. They already bought my plane ticket and I have to talk in church on the 18th :(. I´ll just have to see the pics on facebook.
I miss a lot of your food mom. I don´t know what to ask you to make. Anything but cazuela. I became a big fan of mexican food in Chile cause it doesn´t exist here. I am also crazy for pizza. We´ll have to stop at in and out on the way to the MTC to go see Joe.
I have lots of stories to tell. I have them all written so we'll have a good time to talk.
Love you all

FAMILIA GARCIA

Todos,
Last week Elder Johnston and I were contacting people in the street and he looked at me and said "this fast sunday we should fast to find a future priesthood leader". I agreed am we kept contacting. The next day I had my interview with President Rappleye and he talked about how we need leaders in Chile. He said that the people we baptized are the Future leaders of Chile. I realized how inspired Elder Johnstons comment was. We fasted to be able to find that person, and hopefully his family. That same day we recieved a reference from a member of the Familia Almonacid Garcia. We went by and the Dad let us in and we found the whole family, and taught them the restauración.
We came by the next day and taught them again. They had read the chapter we asked them to read and extra. We shared the gospel with them. We went with Hermana Navarro who was catholic before and she tought them why it is important to get baptized again. They understood very well. Actually the mom told the dad that He had to get baptized again because he was just a baby when he was baptized and didn´t need to get baptized cause he had no sins. the dad then told the mom that she also had to get baptized because she was not baptized by immersion. The whole family committed to baptism. They continue reading and praying.
It´s funny how the spirit works sometimes. My companion simply had the thought "this fast sunday we should fast to find a future priesthood leader". It turned out to be inspired by the spirit.
This week we had district conference in Los Lagos. President Rappleye came to call a new district president. He is from our ward his name is Presidente Carillo and he has a son on a mission in Colombia, Barranquilla. Elder Wilhelm an Area 70 was also there. I played piano.
Love you all lots,

JOE'S MISSION PREP/ GOLDEN FAMILY

Joe,
The mission is great and I love it lots, but the mission is hard. I always thought it was going to be all fun and lots of baptisms. The people are hard to get to. Lots of times I get really frustrated cause I really want everyone to accept our message and get baptized but they seem to not understand. I love them and want to help them but lots of times they find it a lot easier to do what they´ve always done. Some of them even get a testimony and know our message is true but never get baptized cause they don´t want to change their habits. I think it is important to understand that it´s not a cake walk and it requires lots of faith and hard work. With out Gods help I am sure that nobody would ever get baptized.
On the other hand if you pray with faith and trust that God will help you, baptisms just seem to come. Like Rosa who got baptized in a week, Ricardo 3 weeks, Pato, Diego 2 weeks, Juana 3 weeks. These are people who received an answer and were baptized quick.
The best way to prepare is to go out with the missionaries, read Preach my gospel, and share the gospel now with your friends.
I know the church is true. There are lots of churches that can help you better your quality of life but this is the only one that can help you return to life with God. I love the BOM. God loves us and if we trust in him we can work miracles.

Todos,
So we had a great week. We had fasted to find a future priesthood leader, and found La familia Almonacid Garcia. They are great and have a fecha bautismal. A different family went to church this week. The branch president invited them. We have been finding lots of people and having lots of sucess. President Rappleye went to our church this week. I´m doing great, details next week.
Love you,

Los Lagos with Elder Johnston

Nate,
I would love to hear about your progress. I`m in 3 Nephi 14 and just read about the coming of Christ. I think its interesting the description if the three days before Christ was resurrected.

Joe,
I would suggest 1 really good rain coat that is pretty warm, not a big coat cause Buenos Aires is rainy like Chile but not as cold as Chile. Late if you need you can wear sweaters under to keep you warm.

Mom,
My package has not arrived. My coat is nice. I like it and it looks good the only bad thing is it isn`t very waterproof cause they didn`t have any really waterproof stuff in Punta Arenas and my coats were broken and I was freezing to death so I bought a warm coat that was good and the cheapest there was. It was an emergency so I bought that and it will last me the rest of my mission.

Todos,
I´m with Elder Johnston from St. George. He`s as tall as me and he is great. He has a year in the mission. He practiced BBall with BYU before the mission. We go running each morning for exercise. Los lagos is good the zone is small. There are only 4 companionships in the zone. Elder Hanks who played Lacrosse with me at SV is in my zone. We don´t have anyone ready for baptism yet :( . The Elders had a hard time last cambio. We have a small branch. 32 people went to church yesterday.
Yes, I have a calling in the mission but that doesn´t matter much. Elder Johnston and I are the zone leaders,so we have lots to do to help our little zone.
It´s real hot here in ls lagos and we leave each day with shirts and ties no mas. It´s beautiful in los lagos tons of trees and green and rivers. In Por venir it was ugly there was hardly grass.
So Elder Reeder replaced me in Porvenir and is now with Elder Rainey. Small world eh? He has been in 3 of the same sectors as me. I saw him in the airport and gave him a big hug.
love you all

THE BAPTISM THAT WAS, THEN WASN'T, THEN REALLY WAS /CAMBIOS

Nate,
I`m in 3 Nefi 5 and I have slowed down this week. I liked the story of samual the lamanite. He worked super hard and climbed up on the wall to preach to the nephites. Then all the people who believed in Samuel went to Nephi and got baptized.

Todos,
President Rappleye called me and asked me to go to Los Lagos with Elder Johnston. My last cambio. Don't worry though I am not trunky. I`m stoked.
There was a big baptism for the whole stake. 9 baptisms. The service started at 7:30 and the boat to go to Punta Arenas because of weather was postponed till 6pm. It`s a 3 hour boat ride. Elder Pierson delayed the meeting a bit and they started at 7:50 and we got there at 8·30 and everyone was already baptized and me and Ricardo changed our clothes and I baptized him. It was a great baptism and he was ready. Here are some pictures.

Elder Rainey lost his sleeping bag in a taxi and then Ricardo took the same taxi and found it.
We are having a bbq with the Zone today. Elder Pierson goes home on Thursday with 2 other companions of mine.
Love you all,
Elder Day
